Public urged to assist COVID-19 Containment: State Minister

COLOMBO (News 1st): State Minister Dr. Sudarshini Fernandopulle on Saturday (Feb. 13) called on the people to assist in the COVID-19 containment efforts. "The virus cannot be contained without the assistance of the general public," the State Minister of Primary Health Care, Epidemics and COVID Disease Control emphasized. Thereby, Dr. Sudarshini Fernandopulle urged the people to limit travelling, avoid crowded places, wear face masks and maintain the one-metre distance, in order to contain the spread of the disease. Furthermore, she was hopeful once the mass inoculation begins, the virus could be controlled to a greater extent. Whilst observing an increase in the rate of COVID-19 patients reported in the country, State Minister Dr. Sudarshini Fernandopulle noted that several small clusters have formed in the country. According to the State Minister, the increase is also partly due to minor delays in the release of PCR Test results.
