COVID-19 jab for various entities; Govt. explores possibility

COLOMBO (News 1st): The government is exploring the possibility of administering the COVID-19 jab on various other parties including private sector medical staff, medical students and nursing students, who engage with patients on a daily basis, a top health official said. "Taking into account the numerous requests made by various parties, a study in this regard is currently underway by a special medical team," Dr. Amal Harsha de Silva, the Secretary to the State Ministry of Primary Health Care, Epidemics and COVID Disease Control told News 1st on Friday (Feb. 12). Among the groups that have requested for the jab are: airport staff, prison staff including jailors and journalists, according to Dr. Amal Harsha de Silva.
