COLOMBO (News 1st): The Director-General of Health Services confirmed that four (04) COVID-19 deaths were reported in the country on Friday (Feb. 05), raising Sri Lanka's COVID-19 death toll to 343. The details of the deceased are as follows: 01. A 75-year-old male from Colombo 03, who passed away on 2nd February 2021, at his residence. The cause of death is mentioned as COVID pneumonia and high blood pressure. 02. A 89-year-old male from Nawala. He was transferred from the Nevil Fernando Hospital in Colombo to the IDH, where he died on 4th February 2021. The cause of death is mentioned as COVID pneumonia, damaged kidneys due to acute kidney disease, blood poisoning and shock due to blood poisoning, chronic heart disease and acute diabetes. 03. A 72-year-old male from Bagawanthalawa. He was diagnosed as infected with Covid at Dikoya Base Hospital and transferred to the Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital, where he died on 4th February 2021. The cause of death is mentioned as heart failure due to COVID pneumonia. 04. A 63-year-old female from Mattakkuliya. She was diagnosed as infected with Covid at the Colombo General Hospital and transferred to the Homagama Base Hospital, where she died on 4th February 2021. The cause of death is mentioned as shock due to blood poisoning and multiple organ dysfunction caused by COVID pneumonia. Another 729 new COVID-19 cases were confirmed in the country on Friday (05), raising Sri Lanka's COVID-19 caseload to 67,850, the Epidemiology Unit data showed. As of Saturday (Feb. 06), there are 6046 active COVID-19 patients receiving treatment, while 61,461 have recovered.
