COLOMBO (News 1st): The method of admitting students to schools based on the marks of the Grade 05 scholarship examination, was not subjected to any changes, the Ministry of Education said.
There were also no changes in the number of students admitted to each school, Prof. Kapila Perera, Secretary to the Education Ministry said on Saturday (Jan. 23).
As such, the Education Secretary emphasized that students will not face any sort of injustice.
Although students have obtained higher marks in the Grade 05 scholarship examination, the enrollment of students in schools was not subjected to any changes during the last five years from 2017 to 2021, Prof. Kapila Perera pointed out.
According to the Education Secretary, no decision has been taken to reduce the number of classes in schools or the number of students admitted to a class and no such change is expected in boys, girls, mixed schools from Grade 01 to 13 or from Grade 06 to 13.
A period of one month has been allocated starting from February 15th to file appeals in this regard, Education Secretary Prof. Kapila Perera further added.
