COLOMBO (News1st): Trade unions have warned that a programme to boycott India's products would be launched amidst protests against handing over a 49 percent stake of the Colombo Port's East Container Terminal to India's Adani Group. "We will announce a date on when we will start our protest against India, which will commence with the boycotting of Indian Oil Corporation fuel," Sanjeewa Kumara Weligama, the co-convener of the trade Union to Protect the ECT said. Trade unions staged a protest outside the Indian High Commission against the matter and were not allowed to  hand over a letter to the foreign mission "If the High Commissioner is not in, his representatives or officers should accept the document on behalf of him," one protestor demanded. "Their unwillingness to accept the document is a sign of India's arrogance," another protestor said.
