PARLIAMENT TO CONVENE AT 10 AM TODAY (19)

COLOMBO (News 1st): Parliament is scheduled to convene at 10:00 am today (Jan. 19) under the patronage of Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena. A decision was reached at the party leaders' meeting on Monday (Jan. 18), to limit this week's parliamentary sittings to two days. This is against the backdrop of four Members of Parliament being exposed to the COVID-19 virus. Furthermore, nine others including parliamentary staff members and security officers have also tested positive for the virus. Minister Vasudeva Nanayakkara, State Ministers Dayasiri Jayasekara, and Piyal Nishantha de Silva as well as MP Rauff Hakeem have so far been confirmed positive for COVID-19.
