CABINET APPROVES TO IMPLEMENT RECOMMENDATIONS OF PCOI REPORT

Colombo (News 1st); The Cabinet of Ministers gave the green light to submit the report of the Presidential Commission of Inquiry appointed to probe incidents of political victimization to parliament and to take the necessary steps to implement the decisions and recommendations of the said report.

The Presidential Commission of Inquiry appointed to probe incidents of political victimization was appointed to probe incidents of political revenge said have affected public officers, employers of government corporations, members of the armed forces, and police between the 08th of January 2015 to 16th November 2019.

The final report prepared by the Presidential Commission of Inquiry appointed to probe incidents of Political Victimization was handed over to President Gotabaya Rajapaksa on the 08th of December 2020.

The 2000 page report comprises 03 volumes.

The Commission was chaired by retired Supreme Court Judge Upali Abeyratne and comprises Retired Appeal Court Judge Daya Chandrasiri Jayatilleka and Retired IGP Chandra Fernando as members.
