TRAFFIC POLICE TO MONITOR SCHOOL TRANSPORT SERVICES

COLOMBO (News 1st): Sri Lanka Police have launched a special operation to ensure COVID-19 health regulations are followed in school transport services, with the beginning of the 1st term at schools for the year 2021 on Monday (Jan. 11). According to Police Spokesperson DIG Ajith Rohana, traffic police officers will conduct the operation and all involved stakeholders including parents must ensure the COVID-19 guidelines are followed while students are travelling to school. "We have instructed traffic police officers to correct the procedures in respect of face masks and social distancing. The drivers, assistants, and conductors of the vehicles also have a responsibility to look into this issue," the Police Spokesperson DIG Ajith Rohana said on Monday (Jan. 11) The Deputy Police Chief further emphasized, "The parents should inform their children especially, the small children not to remove their face masks under any circumstances and not to exchange face masks with their friends."
