Sri Lanka confirms three new COVID-19 deaths

COLOMBO (News1st): Sri Lanka confirmed three more deaths due to COVID-19 on Thursday, raising the death toll to 222, the government information department said. A 53-year old male from Mithirigala, who had passed away on Wednesday at the Wathupitiwala Base Hospital was among the deceased. A 62-year old male from Beruwala who had passed away on Thursday at the National Institute of Infectious Diseases was also identified as a COVID-19 victim. His cause of death has been identified as pneumonia, blood poisoning, and kidney failure caused due to the infection. The other death was of an 89-year old male who had passed away on Wednesday at his residence in Colombo 14 due to pneumonia resulting from COVID-19.
