TWO COVID-19 DEATHS ON TUESDAY (05)

COLOMBO (News 1st): The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Sri Lanka has risen to 45,726 after 484 new cases were detected on Tuesday (Jan. 05), the Ministry of Health said. As of Wednesday (Jan. 06), there are 7247 active COVID-19 patients receiving treatment, while 38,262 have recovered. Meanwhile, the Director-General of Health Services confirmed that two COVID-19 deaths were reported in the country on Thursday (Jan. 05). The details of the deceased are as follows: A 68-year-old female from Matale died on 3rd January, at the Matale District Hospital. The cause of death was ruled as a respiratory tract infection with COVID-19. A 75-year-old female from Kalutara died on 2nd January, on admission to Kalutara General Hospital. The cause of death was ruled as blood poisoning and asthma with COVID-19 virus infection. Thereby, the COVID-19 death toll in the country has risen to 217, as of today (Jan. 06).
