Army undertakes duty of printing driving licences

COLOMBO (News1st): The Sri Lanka Army undertook the responsibility of printing driving licences with effect from Friday. "With the Army taking over this task, we will be able to save a significant amount of funds," Army Commander General Shavendra Silva said. He added that the IT corps of the Army will be involved in the process. "Individuals previously involved in printing drivers licenses will be absorbed to the volunteer corps of the Army," the army commander noted. Earlier, driving licences had been printed by a private entity together with the motor traffic department.
