COLOMBO (News 1st) - The National Dengue Control Unit says education authorities have been instructed to conduct Dengue-control programmes at all schools before the commencement of the new school term.
Director of the Unit, Dr. Kapila Kannangara, said intermittent rainfall in the southwestern areas could once again increase the risk of dengue mosquito breeding.
He urged the public to pay special attention to the situation and take steps to clean their surroundings.
Meanwhile, the number of dengue cases reported in the country so far this year has risen to 95,035.
The dengue-related death toll stands at 72.
The NDCU said that between 200 and 250 new dengue cases continue to be reported daily.
