COLOMBO (News 1st): Another 40 new COVID-19 cases were confirmed from Sri Lanka Prisons on Tuesday (Dec. 29), officials said.

Of the total cases confirmed today, 37 are male inmates and three are female inmates, Prisons Spokesperson – Chandana Ekanayake said on Tuesday.

As of today (Dec. 29), the total number of COVID-19 cases confirmed at Prisons stands at 3949.

There are 846 COVID-19 cases confirmed at Welikada prison and 830 at the Magazine prison.

The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Sri Lanka stands at 41,603.

There are 8188 active COVID-19 patients receiving treatment, while 33,221 have recovered.

The COVID-19 death toll stands at 194.
