Colombo (News 1st); 05 people had tested positive for COVID-19 following tests carried out at exit points in the Western Province on Sunday (27).

Police Spokesperson DIG Ajith Rohana speaking to News 1st said 1,100 people were subject to COVID-19 tests on Sunday.

A total of 54 people tested positive for COVID-19 from these tests carried out since the 18th of December.

280 close contacts of the 54 COVID-19 cases have been placed in quarantine.

The Police Spokesperson said COVID-19 tests will continue to be carried out at exit points in the Western Province in order to prevent sub-clusters from forming in the country.
