35 PEOPLE ARRESTED IN 24-HOURS FOR VIOLATION OF QUARANTINE REGULATIONS

COLOMBO (News 1st): Sri Lanka Police arrested 35 suspects in a 24-hour window for the failure to wear face masks and maintain social distance. Police Media Spokesperson - DIG Ajith Rohana said since 30th October to-date, a total of 1829 people have been arrested for the violation of COVID-19 regulations including the wearing of face masks and maintaining social distances. The quarantine isolation order in respect of nine police jurisdictions in Colombo-North and Central Colombo and Avissawella, Kosgama, and Ruwanwella police jurisdictions continue to remain in effect. DIG Ajith Rohana said those who are in the isolated areas are not permitted to leave the respective region. He said those who refuse to act in compliance with instructions issued by health authorities will be arrested. Thereby, the Deputy Police Chief requested those in the isolated areas to adhere to health instructions.
