Colombo (News 1st); An inquiry was launched with regard to the registration of 700 vehicles in Sri Lanka using fake documents, said State Minister Dilum Amunugama.
The State Minister of Vehicle Regulation speaking to News 1st said the relevant information was forwarded to the Criminal Investigations Department.
He said unknown individuals have accessed the registration system and fabricated documents in a manner to evade detection.
However, the State Minister said the officers responsible for changing data in the system will be traced and necessary action will be taken.
He said those involved in such malpractices sell the vehicles with fake documents, and at present, the vehicles are in the possession of unsuspecting buyers.
