COLOMBO (News1st): Four individuals leaving the Western Province tested positive for COVID-19 based on random tests carried out on Sunday, officials said. The infections were detected among at least 255 random tests carried out at the exit point of the Western Province in Nittambuwa. Random tests are being carried out at four exit points of the province to curb the spread of the virus outside the province, police spokesman Ajith Rohana noted. This includes Kochchikade on the Colombo-Chilaw road, Nittambuwa on the Colombo-Kandy road, Kosgama on the Colombo-Ratnapura road and Beruwala on the Colombo-Matara road. Tests were mainly conducted on passengers commuting on long-distance buses, News1st's correspondent reported. Meanwhile, random testing is also taking place in Benthara along the Colombo-Matara main road with the assistance of medical and police officers in the area.
