Mediation Boards to resume activities from the 9th of January

Activities of Mediation Boards which were suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic will resume from the 9th of January, the Ministry of Justice said.

The decision was taken during a discussion between the Minister of Justice, Ali Sabri PC and members of the Mediation Board at the Ministry of Justice.

It was also decided to set up separate Mediation Boards at the district level to resolve land and financial disputes, according to a statement issued by the Ministry of Justice.

Special Financial Dispute Settlement Boards will be established in Colombo, Gampaha, Kurunegala, Kandy and Anuradhapura districts.

Special Mediation Boards will be established in other districts as well, according to the Ministry.
