Colombo (News 1st); The General public is urged to refrain from experimenting with so-called Anti-COVID recipes circulating on social media, stressed the State Ministry of Promotion of Indigenous Medicine on Monday (14).
It was noticed that multiple indigenous recipes are being shared online claiming to be tonic to combat COVID-19, said an announcement from the State Ministry.
It added, it is paramount to be extra cautious on the ingredients used to prepare any indigenous medicine and one must have a complete understanding on what parts of a plant are being used for such medicine.
The State Ministry of Promotion of Indigenous Medicine said though local medicine is used to boost immunity, it is important to continue to follow the guidelines issued by the World Health Organization.
It went on to note, certain local recipes are being subject to the tests and the general public will be made aware of the results and observations.
