Award-winning Sri Lankan Sci-fi 'VIKAARI' released online on DUST Sci-Fi

Colombo (News 1st);  The much anticipated international award-winning Sri Lankan short film Vikaari was released by the Dust Sci-fi channel on Thursday (10).

Vikaari is an international award-winning Sri Lankan Sci-fi short film directed by Sri Lankan filmmaker Sandun Seneviratne and British filmmaker Charlie Bray.

The film will be the first Sri Lankan film to be released by the Dust Sci-fi channel, which is the biggest Sci-fi channel on YouTube.

Vikaari was the first Sri Lankan film to be screened at Screamfest Horror Film Festival in Los Angeles, the largest and longest-running horror film festival in the US, which has premiered legendary horror films such as Paranormal Activity and The Grudge.

The film won the award for best short film at the festival last October.

It was also selected to be screened in competition at the Lund Fantastic Film Festival in Sweden.

Vikaari is based on a story and concept by Sandun Seneviratne and is about the appearance of babies with a similar set of deformities and supernatural abilities around the world which sparks a worldwide panic.

The film explores such themes as the potential of Human biology and where human evolution is heading.

It stars popular Sri Lankan actors Ashan Dias and Bimsara Tennakoon and British actor Richard Dee Roberts.
