COLOMBO (News 1st): Testifying before the Presidential Commission of Inquiry probing the 2019 April 21st Attacks on Tuesday (Dec. 08), State Minister Dayasiri Jayasekara said he has a clear doubt as to whether the appointment of Presidents and the formation of Governments in the country since 2015, was based on foreign influence. An inquiry must be conducted as to who wanted to send the Former President home and appoint another President, the State Minister told the Presidential Commission in response to a question raised as to whether the April 21 attack was due to the influence of a foreign country. Testifying at the commission, State Minister Jayasekara said an immediate inquiry should be conducted into how the country became so chaotic to the point an individual identified as Namal Kumara made a statement regarding a conspiracy to assassinate the incumbent President at the time and the person who was to become the President. Further investigations must be conducted on who led Zahran Hashim or whether Zahran Hashim was used by another group to achieve a particular objective, he further noted. The prevailing situation creates uncertainty as to how many governments will be overthrown in the future in the event of such attacks, State Minister Dayasiri Jayasekara told the Presidential Commission of Inquiry probing the 2019 April 21st Attacks.
