Opposition MP's raise concerns over case against MTV

COLOMBO (News1st): Opposition lawmakers have raised concerns against a case filed against MTV Channel (Pvt) Ltd. that is being heard in court. "I would like to express our opposition towards disrupting media freedom," V. Radhakrishnan, a parliamentarian from the Samagi Jana Balawegaya declared. He pointed out that the channel could not be destroyed under any circumstances. Gajendrakumar Ponnambalam, another opposition parliamentarian also echoed similar sentiments during a parliamentary debate on Wednesday. "There is a strong perception that this is a deliberate act against MTV particularly on the issue of COVID-19 because they were exposing several matters," he said.
