Body of Dutch monk discovered in Rathgama: Police

COLOMBO (News 1st): The body of a Dutch monk who was at Polgasduwa Aranya Senasanaya in Rathgama on a meditation retreat, was discovered on Tuesday (08) night, in the Rathgama Lagoon, police said. The 60-year-old monk in question was ordained as Netherlanthaye Jinarathana Thero, Police noted. News 1st correspondent in the area said the late Thero had gone on a 'Pindapatha' or Alms Round two days ago and was not seen since. According to reports, the hands and feet of the late thero were found bound while a rock was also tied on to his neck. The Magisterial Inquiry was carried out on Wednesday (09) morning and the body was moved to the Karapitiya Teaching Hospital for the postmortem.
