Rs. 5000 debacle raises its head again

Residents of Dematagoda launches a protest citing the Rs. 5000 allowance given by the Government is not sufficient.

Colombo (News 1st): The residents of the Diyapath Sevana Housing Scheme in Dematagoda launched a protest today citing that the Rs. 5000 allowance granted by the Government as a relief for COVID-19 was not sufficient. The people claim that their day to day activities have been impacted severely as a result of the housing scheme being placed under isolation. Residents urged the authorities to provide them with the Rs. 5000 allowance on a weekly basis Some requested the authorities release the lockdown so that they can carry out our jobs and earn a living. The protest was held for about half an hour before the protestors dispersed.
