COLOMBO (News1st): A government lawmaker has suggested the culling of monkeys and peacocks to prevent damages caused to coconut cultivations in the country.

"Around 40 percent of coconut cultivations are being destroyed by monkeys.

Foreign nations also cull these animals at a certain point," S.B. Dissanayake said Monday.

He quipped that the animals that destroy crops could be killed with the hope that they are reincarnated as humans in the next life.
