Colombo (News 1st); The COVID-19 patient who spat on the face of a Public Health Inspector in Atalugama on Wednesday (02), was arrested by the Bandaragama Police on Friday (04) morning and was remanded until the 17th of December by the Additional Magistrate of Panadura.
Police Spokesperson DIG Ajith Rohana speaking to News 1st said the Police was accompanied by the Medical Officer for Health and the Public Health Inspector to make the arrest.
The suspect was produced to the respective Magistrate’s Court via video link and the Panadura Additional Magistrate ordered for the suspect to be remanded until the 17th of December 2020.
The suspect was identified as a COVID-19 patient and he was to be transported to the Welikada Prison following health guidelines.
The suspect had obstructed the duty of a PHI who wanted to move the suspect to a treatment center, by spitting on the face of the PHI, said the Police Spokesperson.
