Colombo (News 1st); Former President Maithripala Sirisena told the Presidential Commission of Inquiry appointed to probe the 2019 April 21st Attacks, he has strong suspicions the attacks were orchestrated by a foreign force.
The Presidential Commission concluded recording evidence from the Former President on Tuesday (25), as Maithripala Sirisena provided evidence for the 08th day.
The Former President told the Presidential Commission, later on, it was revealed there was a tendency of such an attack taking place before 2019.
He said it was further confirmed following the evidence provided by Former CID Chief Ravi Seneviratne to the Presidential Commission of Inquiry.
Sirisena said following the 2019 terror attacks several foreign intelligence services visited the country for investigations, however, none of them were able to uncover who was behind the attacks.
The Former President said it is very unlikely the leader of a terror outfit would decide to be a suicide bomber.
Maithripala Sirisena in his testimony said he strongly believes the group of Zaharan Hashim was led by another group.
The Former President said he was pleased to have appeared at the Presidential Commission of Inquiry to provide evidence from Day 01 to the end of his testimony.
He said the Presidential Commission was established when he was the President and he is prepared to assist the Presidential Commission in the future as well.
He praised all those at the Presidential Commission for their commitment to uncovering the truth behind the heinous attacks.
