Colombo (News 1st); Dilip Wedaarachchi, Sri Lanka’s former State Minister of Fisheries, caught reporters by surprise as he ate a bite of “raw fish” during a live press conference. The act of Wedaarachchi, which drew international media glare, was aimed at shunning away from the rumors of COVID-19 transmission through seafood consumption.
” Doctors must promote the consumption of fish, because fish do not spread the coronavirus,” said Wedaarachchi adding when fisheries was launched in Sri Lanka, fish was eaten raw by the local fisher community.
Thereafter, the Wedaarachchi decided to do what many called a “Bear Grylls” move by eating raw fish in the presence of the media.
