401 people tested positive for COVID-19 on Tuesday (17)

Colombo (News 1st); A total of 401 people were confirmed to have tested positive for COVID-19 on Tuesday (17).

03 of them were seafarers and all other 398 were from locally-identified close contacts.

Of those persons, 201 are from Colombo, 82 from Gampaha and 32 from Kalutara, stated the National Operations Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO).

By 6.00 AM on Wednesday (18), the total number of COVID-19 positive cases reported from Minuwangoda garment factory employees and Peliyagoda Fish Market cluster stands at 14,564.

Of them, 3,059 were from the Minuwangoda cluster and all other 11,505 were from the Peliyagoda Fish Market cluster.

Meanwhile, 8,785 fully-recovered COVID-19 patients have been discharged from hospitals.

To-date, 66 COVID-19 positive deaths have been reported.

Tuesday’s 05 deaths were from Colombo 02, Colombo 10, Ratmalana, Kirulapone and Dematagoda areas.

As of Wednesday morning (18), the flight QR 688 from Doha- Qatar with one passenger, the flight UL 226 from Dubai with 289 passengers and the flight UL 1042 from Mumbai with 7 passengers arrived in Colombo.

All those passengers were referred to Quarantine Centres (QCs), managed by tri-services upon their arrival after formalities at the airport.

As of Wednesday (18) morning, 3,223 persons in 33 tri service-managed QCs are still in quarantine.

On Tuesday (17), 8,743 PCR tests were carried out.
