COLOMBO (News1st): Sri Lanka’s health ministry has identified additional hospitals to treat COVID-19 patients in the country.
More than 2800 beds have been set-up at the new facilities, director-general of health services Dr. Asela Gunawardena said.
He added that COVID-19 patients are currently receiving treatment at 36 facilities, amidst a second wave of infections in the country.
The health services chief noted that the number of PCR tests – to detect COVID-19 patients – has been increased to 1000 in areas that are under isolation.
Sri Lanka’s COVID-19 tally stands at 16,583 with 5206 under treatment and 11,324 recoveries.
