COLOMBO (News1st): Sri Lanka's tally of COVID-19 infections in prisons have exceeded 300, government officials said, amidst the second wave of infections in the country.
The infected individuals include five prison officers, 88 inmates at the Bogambara prison, 48 at the Boossa Prison, and 14 at the Kuruwita prison.
They are under medical care at treatment centres in Kandakadu, Gallella and Welikanda.
"Their health is currently in a good condition. The medical staffers are carrying out their duties well," prisons commissioner of administration Chandana Ekanayake noted.
