COLOMBO (News1st): A medical officers body has urged a probe into the recent COVID-19 deaths in Colombo amidst the second wave of infections.
"Why have several deaths been reported in the Colombo Municipality limits?" Dr Haritha Aluthge of the Government Medical Officers Association queried.
He pointed out that 16 deaths have been reported from the municipality limits, out of the island-wide death toll of 29.
Dr Aluthge also raised concerns over the importation of antigen test kits although the validation of the test is yet to be completed.
"If the validation process determines that antigen tests are of no use, what can we do we to the test kits that have allegedly been imported to the country?" he queried.
The GMOA editor urged the government to complete the validation process and to determine whether the test is suitable to the country.
