Colombo (News 1st): Another 82 garbage-filled freight containers imported to Sri Lanka illegally will be shipped back to the United Kingdom, said Sri Lanka Customs.
According to Sri Lanka Customs, the Vessel pertaining to 65 Containers is “MV EVER GOVERN” will depart early on Friday (06).
The Vessel pertaining to 07 Containers is “MV MSC QINGDAO” and it will depart on Friday (06) afternoon.
The Vessel pertaining to 10 Containers is “MV MSC LEANNE” and will depart on Friday (06) evening.
As reported previously, 20 containers of the same category had already been repatriated to UK on the 30th of October 2020.
Sunil Jayarathne, the Additional Director General of Customs and the spokesman of Sri Lanka Customs speaking to News 1st said the repatriation of a total of 242 garbage filled freight containers is taking place following a order from the court.
He said another 120 garbage filled freight containers are to be shipped back to the United Kingdom in the future.
