Colombo (News 1st); 180 people were arrested during the past 24 hours ending at 06:00 AM on Tuesday (03) for violating the quarantine curfew while 25 vehicles were seized.
Since the 04th of October to-date, 1992 people were arrested and 307 vehicles were seized for violating the quarantine curfew, said Police Spokesperson DIG Ajith Rohana.
73 people were arrested from the 30th of October to-date for failing to follow the Social Distancing and Face Mask concept as mentioned in the extraordinary gazette on Corona Virus Disease 2019 (Covid 19) (Preventive Measures) Regulations.
DIG Ajith Rohana said action will be instituted against the violators as per the provisions of the gazette and when found guilty of the charges they will be fined Rs. 10,000/- and 06-month rigorous imprisonment.
