Colombo (News 1st); Sri Lanka Police traced 550 people who left the Western Province on the 29th and 30th of October violating the quarantine order barring anyone from leaving the province, said Deputy Police Chief Ajith Rohana on Sunday (01).
These individuals were located at various destinations catering to local tourists, especially from Nuwara Eliya, Batticaloa, Tangalle, Matara, Ampara and Jaffna.
150 people were ordered to follow the quarantine process at the current place of accommodation, he said adding these places were identified as hotels, villas, circuit bungalows and guest houses.
These individuals will complete their quarantine period on the 12th of November and thereafter legal action will be instituted against them for violating the quarantine curfew and the regulations as per the provision of Quarantine and Prevention of Diseases Ordinance of Sri Lanka.
