Colombo (News 1st); President Gotabaya Rajapaksa on Sunday (01) instructed the police to strictly enforce the Quarantine Curfew in areas which have been placed under the regulations.

The Presidential Media Division stated a number of decisions were taken during a discussion chaired by the President to ensure that the imposition of the curfew does not affect the lives of the people and prevent the economy from experiencing a downfall.

Accordingly, the President instructed the health authorities to monitor the home quarantine individuals as well as to conduct PCR testing of those individuals within 10 days of the quarantine period and to direct those who have not been infected to normal life after 14 days.

It was revealed at this discussion the steps taken by the government to quarantine people at home instead of taking them to quarantine centers are yielding successful results.

Meanwhile, the President instructed not to issue curfew passes as before in areas where curfew is in effect.

Those quarantined at home will also be given a dry ration hamper worth of Rs. 10,000/-, said the President's Media Division.

It was revealed during the discussion that during the period of curfew, essential goods will be distributed in the same manner as previously implemented, through home delivery.

A statement issued by the Presidential Media Division further stated that it was decided at this meeting to suspend travel between the districts except for essential services including distribution of goods.
