Colombo (News 1st): Specialist Doctor Hemantha Herath, the newly appointed Acting Deputy Director-General of Health Services says, according to the statistics at present, there is a rapid drop in the number of patients being reported from the Minuwangoda Cluster. However, he notes that people and the authorities have to accept the fact this situation cannot be curbed entirely and that it will take time. Adding further Specialist Doctor Hemantha Herath said that the medical authorities do hope that they can limit the number of COVID-19 cases that are being reported from the Gampaha District. Commenting on whether consuming fish is dangerous at present, Deputy Director of Health Services (Laboratory Services) - Specialist Doctor Ananda Jayalal emphasized on the fact that the virus cannot sustain within fish but the virus can sustain on the surface of fish. He advised the public to always wear a mask when taking the fish out from the refrigerator and to put the fish inside a basin and pour hot water into the basin. He said, in doing so, the virus will die in 15 to 20 minutes.
