COLOMBO (News1st): An opposition lawmaker has warned that Sri Lanka faces the risk of being split into three due to the influence of the US, India, and China. "India is attempting to acquire one part of the country. The US is trying to acquire another part and China another," Rohana Bandara, a Samagi Jana Balawegaya member said. He made these remarks ahead of US State Secretary Mike Pompeo's visit to Sri Lanka expected on Tuesday. "Why are these officials visiting the country? They are coming here to sign the MCC agreement," Bandara pointed out. "This is part of a conspiracy to divide the country into three parts." He added that the government has passed an amendment with a clause that would allow dual citizens to hold political office, to pave way for this conspiracy. Meanwhile, minister Namal Rajapaksa has refuted accusations levelled against the government that it is not following a non-aligned foreign policy. "We are not committed to any country," the sports and youth affairs minister insisted. He pointed out that there is no issue in engaging in a friendly discussion with any country.
