8,090 people in 75 tri service-managed QCs still in quarantine.

Colombo (News 1st);  A total of 541 people were confirmed positive to COVID-19 on Monday (26) and all of them were locally-identified cases, stated the National Operations Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO).

As of Tuesday morning (27), 8,090 people in 75 tri service-managed QCs are still in quarantine.

On Monday (26), 7,682 PCR tests were carried out across the country and the total PCR tests conducted so far stands at 458, 518.

As of Tuesday morning (27), 130 fully-recovered COVID-19 patients were discharged from hospitals.

All of them are identified as close contacts of the Minuwangoda garment factory-infected employees who were in quarantine at QCs.

On Monday (26) Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva, Head of the National Operations Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO), and Commander of the Army announced from the first contacts of any positive COVID-19 affectee would be placed under self-quarantine in their respective homes.

Elaborating on the present status of the COVID-19 pandemic in the country, imposition of quarantine curfew in selected Police divisions, detection of positive cases at different area levels, he appealed to the general public to be aware of the dangers of irresponsible behaviour while stressing the need to maintain social distancing, wearing of facial masks, etc.
