US trying to establish military bases around China : Prof. Tissa Vitarana

COLOMBO (News1st): The US is trying to lure Asian countries to set-up their military bases against China, lawmaker Professor Tissa Vitarana has said. "The US is bracing for a war with China," the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna parliamentarian pointed out ahead of US State Secretary Mike Pompeo's visit to Sri Lanka. He said Sri Lanka is likely to be part of this war if it is used to establish a US military base. "They (the US) are trying to set-up more than 400 military bases surrounding China, by inviting Asian countries to join their efforts," Prof. Vitarana noted. He said that activities of this nature had begun under the previous government. "...it seems that the US is exerting influence and continuing under the current government," the parliamentarian remarked.
