45 Custom Officers Quarantined; COVID-19 scare closes Galle Post Office

Colombo (News 1st); 45 Custom Officers attached to the Colombo Port have been quarantined.

Customs Spokesperson Sunil Jayaratne speaking to News 1st said the decision was made after 02 Customs Inspectors tested positive for COVID-19.

Further, 200 workers at the Colombo Port were directed to PCR tests, he added.

In addition, the Galle Post Office was closed down temporarily after it was reported a COVID-19 patient had visited the premises recently.

750 people attached to the Beruwala Fisheries Harbour were directed to PCR tests on Friday (23).

Kalutara District Secretary Janaka Kumara speaking to News 1st said the decision was made after several fishermen tested positive for COVID-19 at the premises.

The Beruwala Fisheries Harbour was closed this morning and this also prompted the closure of the Ratnapura Fish Market as well.
