U.S. Secretary of State - Mike Pompeo to come to Sri Lanka to achieve common Indo-Pacific goals

Colombo (News 1st): U.S. Department of State confirmed that the U.S. Secretary of State - Mike Pompeo will arrive in Sri Lanka Secretary Pompeo will travel to Colombo to underscore the commitment of the United States to a partnership with a strong, sovereign Sri Lanka and to advance our common goals for a free and open Indo-Pacific region, U.S. Department of State further said. Mike Pompeo confirmed of his visit to Sri Lanka on his Twitter account saying "Looking forward to my upcoming trip to India, Sri Lanka, Maldives, and Indonesia, for productive conversations with our friends and partners, and the U.S.-India 2+2 Ministerial Dialogue with @EsperDoD and our Indian counterparts. In light of this announcement, Venerable Elle Gunawansa Thero says, all countrymen are still scared of the MCC agreement. Venerable Thero said apart from Pompeo's visit, about 74 other delegates have already arrived in Sri Lanka and are lodging at a hotel and those delegates have not been quarantined. Speaking further Venerable Thero said that the Maha Sangha has worked very hard to establish this Government and they must fend off all of these cultural and economic invasions. SJB MP - Patali Champika Ranawaka also voicing his opinions on this matter said that the U.S. State Secretary is visiting the island to influence us to sign the MCC or some form of an agreement under another name. He added saying that, Pompeo is coming here to set the diplomatic background required to sign agreements linked to the ACCA or SOFA agreements.
