Colombo (News 1st); The United National Party said it would postpone naming its MP to the only seat it secured in Parliament as a mark of protest to the proposed 20th Amendment to the Constitution.
Deputy Leader of the UNP Ruwan Wijewardene speaking to reporters on Tuesday (20) said the UNP conducted a series of discussions in recent days and reached a decision not to appoint an MP to the National List Seat and to delay the process.
The UNP maintains a position there is no democracy in Parliament, said Wijewardene.
He said the United National Party would continue its struggle from outside of Parliament and will not send anyone to Parliament to protest against the 20th Amendment to the Constitution
