Postpone debate on 20th Amendment; says Lakshman Kiriella

Kiriella said if the recently published health regulations are to be implemented, meetings need to be restricted and social distancing must be maintained.

He said, therefore, the seating allocation at the Parliament is in total contradiction to the health regulations adding convening parliament at a time when meetings have been restricted is a total violation of the regulations.

He questioned what is the example shown to the masses if the very institution which passes legislation is violating the law.

Lakshman Kiriella further noted in order to discuss the matters mentioned in the letter, the Parliament session scheduled for this week should be held as per the regulations imposed by the Government.
