COLOMBO (News1st): A team of Criminal Investigation Department (CID) officers visited the opposition leader's residence on Friday, after attempts to arrest former minister Rishad Bathiudeen proved futile.
Issuing a statement, the Media Unit of the Opposition Leader said that CID officers had questioned the opposition leader on a telephone call that had taken place between him and Rishad Bathiudeen.
The Media Unit noted that it is the responsibility of the opposition leader to hold talks with the parliamentarians in his faction and to stand up on behalf of their rights.
Accordingly, it stressed that opposition leader Sajith Premadasa has fulfilled his responsibilities in an appropriate manner.
The statement claimed that the government is acting out a scripted drama while pointing out that the parliamentarian has not been arrested for two days, although authorities have said that 6 police teams are involved in the operation.
