Two suspects arrested over attempt to burn down magistrate's house

COLOMBO (News1st): Two suspects have been arrested for attempting to torch the residence of an acting magistrate, police said on Wednesday. They had attempted to set fire to the house in Kaduwela on September 14, police spokesman Ajith Rohana noted. Police said this was after the magistrate's spouse, a legal officer at the land development corporation, had refused to grant permission to fill a land. The police Colombo Crimes Division had launched a probe after a complaint had been filed with the Navagamuwa police by the acting magistrate.
