10 turtle carcasses discovered on Sri Lankan shores

COLOMBO (News1st): 10 turtle carcasses have been discovered along the Wellawatta and Galle Face beaches during the last 48 hours. Bloodstains were seen around the eyes and mouth of three turtles that had washed ashore in the vicinity of the Mount Lavinia Hotel last evening. Officers attached to the Police Life Saving Squad had taken steps to bury the bodies of the turtles along the mount Lavinia coast. Meanwhile, six dead turtles were discovered this evening. Zonal Wildlife officers from the Belanwila zone had arrived at the scene to investigate the incident. Wildlife officers exhumed the bodies of the turtles this evening. The remains were taken for further investigations.
