Pesalai Police seize over 1000 kg of smuggled Turmeric

COLOMBO (News 1st): Pesalai Police have seized a stock of 1024 kg and 245 grams of Turmeric and a truck that transported the stock, police said on Sunday (Sept. 27). This was during a raid conducted in the Periyakersal area, based on a tip-off. The truck and the stock of Turmeric were taken into custody, without a suspect, Police noted. The stock of Turmeric is suspected to have been smuggled into the country, via sea. According to Police, the turmeric was packed in 29 polythene bags. Investigations are underway to determine the suspect behind the smuggled stock of Turmeric.
