People urged to report on inconveniences faced at state institutions on "Public Day"

COLOMBO (News 1st): The Ministry of Public Services, Provincial Councils and Local Government on Sunday (Sept. 27) urged the general public to immediately inform the inconveniences faced at state institutions on Mondays, which has been declared as the "Public Day". According to the Ministry, people are severely inconvenienced due to the failure of certain government officers to report to work on Mondays. The general public can report about such institutions to the respective Ministry in-charge or the Ministry of Public Services, a high-ranking officer at the Ministry of Public Services, Provincial Councils and Local Government said. Moreover, the general public is also urged to report regarding Grama Niladharis who are not present at the office, on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. Upon receiving complaints of such officers, the Ministry of Public Services will immediately look into the matter, the high-ranking officer further noted. The Ministry of Internal Security, Home Affairs and Disaster Management recently issued a circular, regulating the duties and services of Grama Niladharis with effect from October 01st.
