Colombo (News 1st); Marine Environment Protection Authority scientists in their interim report to Attorney General Dappula De Livera have confirmed the oil leak from the distressed MT New Diamond Crude Oil Tanker had caused marine pollution.
State Counsel Nishara Jayaratne, the Coordinating Officer to the Attorney General confirmed this to News 1st of Thursday (24).
On Friday (25), the Marine Environment Protection Authority said its team of expert scientists is continuing with the investigation on marine pollution caused by the MT New Diamond oil leak.
A report will be prepared on the cost that will be incurred on damage recovery to the Sri Lankan marine environment, said MEPA officials.
